Become a Patron
Patrons are churches or individuals who wish to demonstrate their support of early care and education by providing Membership Benefits to the staff of a child care program. Patrons also contribute funds to three different Scholarship Funds designed for teachers, children, and disaster relief.
Please consider becoming a Patron to the staff of a child care program. Your support will provide a child care program with benefits for administrator and teachers as well as enable the program to reallocate dollars that would have otherwise gone toward CDEA Memberships. Your generous support can remain anonymous but will never go unnoticed!
We would like to acknowledge the following Patrons for their generous support of early childhood programs and CDEA’s Scholarship Funds!

Scholarship Funds
The CDEA Board developed a Business Plan that outlines CDEA’s forward growth, organizational stability, and investment opportunities. The following in an Overview of Investment Opportunities.
CDEA has many investment opportunities. Donations may be made to: professional development scholarships for teachers, through the Claude Saunders Scholarship Fund; to children’s scholarships for those in temporary need of financial assistance, through the Howard Sweet Scholarship Fund; or to help those affected by disasters, through the Adopt a Box Disaster Relief Fund. The Investment Opportunities Sheet explains how your donations of various amounts enable us to assist those in need through Public Assistance Funds.
- The Claude Saunders Scholarship fund was developed to assist member teachers/directors with financial needs attend CDEA training. This scholarship fund has been used for CDEA conferences, WEE Learn training, Seminars, and entry-level credentials equivalent to the National CDA or Florida Child Care Professional Credential.
- The Howard Sweet Scholarship fund was developed to assist parents in extreme emergency who did not qualify for public assistance. Examples might include fire, death in family, job loss, etc. CDEA Administrative Members using CDEA’s Reach One, Teach One scholarship program or a similar program could apply for a 50% match to their scholarship funds. Administrators may choose to charge a small portion to the parents or scholarship the full amount for the parents. The program is designed to match funds for 10 weeks, but has been funded up to 3 months in extreme circumstances.
- Adopt A Box was developed to assist programs in disaster relief areas. It works in partnership with Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Mercy Corps, JP Morgan Chase and Kaplan Early Learning Company as part of the Bright Spaces in a Box. It purchases furniture and needs teaching materials for very low discounted prices from Kaplan and matches funds raised by CDEA. This fund has been used for a Christian program in Alabama on the Gulf Coast after Katrina and in conjunction with The Children’s Forum for programs in Haiti.
The Investment Opportunities Sheet also shows how donations may be made for Discounts for Services for membership, training, accreditation, and parent support materials and services. For those wishing to donate to the External Growth Fund to advance the work of CDEA, the benefits for each amount are listed. Smaller donations may be made and applied towards specific needs.
